The Wind and Ross Gload by Hansob

A quick look at things that I think are overused or underused:

Overused: Wind outside of Wrigley Field. I sat in Busch stadium a couple weeks ago and watched the flags in the outfield blowing the exact opposite direction as the flags on top of a building 4 blocks away. Just sayin'.

Underused: Wind at Wrigley Field. The run lines give you a good idea of how wind affects Wrigley. Two marginal pitchers + 15 MPH IN from CF = about 7.5-8. Two marginal pitchers + 15MPH OUT to CF = 12. Always know the wind forecast at Wrigley.

Overused: pitcher vs batter. Sorry, but it takes at least 80 ABs for it to matter, but when the hitter and pitcher get to 80 ABs, they're usually in their middle to late 30's and different players than they were 10 years ago. Not saying it's completely useless, but I don't care if Luke Scott is hitting 0.500 with 3HRs in 12 ABs against Roy Halladay. I'm still not taking him.

Underused: Opponent's K's when choosing PS. K's are a HUGE part of your overall PS score. Some teams strike out about 8 times per game. Some only K about 5.5 times per game. That extra K or two from strikeout-prone teams can add up.

Other notes:Know your switch hitters. Shane Victorino hits lefties better than he hits righties. Berkman hits righties better and is borderline CRAP against lefties. Just two examples.

And never, ever, under any circumstances take Ross Gload.
