YESTERDAY
Honestly, who cares about the pitching? We all had the same staff anyway, so on to the bats. It was a good day for offense with many of the big dogs putting up solid scores. My team was led by Utley and Ortiz, who both went deep. Every bat got on the board and my 38 batting points, although mediocre, bumped me back up to #11 overall, 12 points out of the elusive top ten.
TODAY
It could very well be a huge moving day, a the top staffs are split pretty much 50-50 between Lester and Haren. Oz, a distant third, is hopefully a good darkhorse as he is the man for me. With only three days left in the half, every point counts. Which staff will blow the half for many of us? Believe me when I say that someone will. Tomorrow will be diverse as well and there is a DH on Sunday. I assure you, the half is far from over. Here's my final....

1B: Morneau

Pitchers:
Jarrod Weaver (9-3 3.15, 1.13 WHIP, 19 R in last 23 IP, 6-1 2.05 at home, 0-0 6.00 vs. NYY)
Lilly (8-6 3.32, 1.14 WHIP, 5-1 1.96 at home, 0-1 3.86 vs. StL)
Washburn (5-6 3.08, 1.10 WHIP, 4-2 2.55 at home, 0-0 6.00 vs. Tex)
Garza (6-6 3.70, less than 6 IP in 4 of last 6 starts, 0-1 4.38 vs. Oak)
Romero (7-3 2.96, 2.00 ERA in last 4 starts, 0-1 8.44 vs. Balt)
Cueto (8-5 3.45, 1.19 WHIP, 19 R in last 17 IP, vs. NYM)
Johan (9-7 3.29, 107 K in 109 IP, 6-2 2.08 at home, 1-0 1.59 vs. Cin)
Jurrjens (6-7 2.91, 3-3 2.83 on road, 1-0 1.29 vs. Col)
Marquis (11-5 3.61, Low K's, 2-0 0.00 in last 2 starts, 1-0 1.13 vs. Atl)
Cain (10-2 2.42, 1 R or less in 6 of last 8 starts, 6-1 2.32 at home, 1-0 3.00 vs. SD)
Millwood (8-6 3.34, rockes in last 2 starts, 2-5 4.39 on road, 1-0 5.14 vs. Sea)
My guess is that Cain will be the majority pick and the smart side of me says to take him for that very reason. However, my gut tells me to go with Johan even though he has not been great and the bats behind him are miserabe, so that is what I am going to do. If it works, it could be a good day. His numbers at home are what send me over the edge.
First:
Lee (3-6, 2HR)
Huff (1-3, HR vs. good lefty)
Miggy (1-3)
LaRoche (2-3, 2HR vs. lefty)
Youk (5-11)
Helton (4-9 vs. good starter)
For the price he comes in at, Lee is the best value here for me. Youk would be my second pick, byt he is cold as ice this week.
Second:
Cano (4-10 vs. good starter)
Roberts (2-2 vs. good lefty)
Pedroia (4-8)
Castillo (2-5 vs. good starter)
Lopez (13-42)
None of these guys thrill me, so I am going to step outside and take Chase vs. Ohlendorf at home. He has never faced him, but that doesn't bother me at all. No numbers are better than bad numbers.
Third:
Figgins (5-14 vs. lefty)
ARod (4-11, 3HR vs. good starter)
Longoria (1-2 vs. lefty)
Inge (1-3)
Zimmerman (1-3, HR vs. lefty)
Encarnacion (4-5, 2HR vs. good lefty)
Chipper (5-10, 3HR vs. good starter)
Cantu (3-7)
Young (20-60, 3HR vs. good lefty)
I don't like ARod vs. Weaver numbers or not and Chipper is always banged up. I think I will go with Cantu vs. what's left of Garland's arm.
Short:
Aybar (4-10 vs. lefty)
Bartlett (4-4 vs. lefty)
Zo (1-3 vs. lefty)
Tulo (3-9 vs. good starter)
I want to go with Hanley even though he is 1-6 vs. Garland, but I will take Bartlett for now and maybe upgrade later if possible.
Left:
Reimold (1-3, HR vs. good lefty)
Due to nothing of value here, I think I will risk Manny not playing for reasons only he can come up with and give him a shot vs. the Brewers' hack.
Center:
Jones (1-3, HR vs. good lefty)
Wells (2-3)
Granderson (1-3)
Sizemore (6-17, 3HR)
Guttierez (3-5, HR vs. good starter)
Hamilton (2-4, HR vs. good starter)
Grady is the only option here. None others considered.
Right:
Mags (2-5)
Hart (2-5, HR)
Guillen (9-30)
Ichiro (4-11 vs. good lefty)
Span (4-7)
I don't know why, but I never take Jason Werth. Today I will. I can't go the whole half without him. Wouldn't be prudent.
DH:
Ortiz (9-23, 4HR)
Byrd (4-11 vs. good lefty)
Easy. Papi.
Catcher:
Napoli (5-7 vs. lefty)
Kendall (3-9)
Mauer (6-19)
Benji (1-2)
I didn't realize it until now, but Napoli hits .457 vs. lefties.
As luck would have it, I do have the dough left over to get Hanley and I will do exactly that.
FINAL LINEUP
C: Napoli
1B: Lee
2B: Utley
3B: Cantu
SS: Hanley
LF: Manny
CF: Grady
RF: Werth
DH: Ortiz
PS: Johan
